About the event
Evidence is continuing to grow regarding the health and wellness benefits of creating art. The simple act of drawing and painting can release serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin in the brain, promoting feelings of well-being. Art is increasingly recognized as a valuable tool for supporting emotional health, with some schools and communities even incorporating art into wellness programs. In this class led by educational psychologist Dr. Sarah Zappe of Kaleidoscope PA, parents will learn about the research on art and wellness, engage in a watercolor activity, and explore ways to encourage their children to use art as a tool for managing emotions and enhancing mental wellness. Participants will leave with a finished watercolor winter scene created with guidance during the session.
This class is for adult caregivers of students at the Friends School only.
